PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif has outlined and finalised the agenda of central organisation committee (COC) and parliamentary party (PP) meetings, putting at top the issue of a possible move to upstage the Punjab government in the backdrop of PML-Q-PPP alliance. The other vital issues to be mulled over in the meetings scheduled to be held on May 10 in Islamabad include MQM’s rejoining the federal cabinet, voices for new provinces, finalisation of tickets to potential candidates in coming elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and revisiting the plan to include the Unification Bloc in the Punjab cabinet. According to the agenda, the meetings would also chalk out a strategy to counter heinous plans to isolate the PML-N by lining together old and new allies in the PPP-led coalition government.
A PML-N senior leader told Pakistan Today that the meetings would also take stock of Raymond Davis’ release and the killing of Osama bin Laden. “Party leaders have also decided to propose that Nawaz Sharif roll up his sleeves against the government as a part of a final plan, taking plea that the party is already late and any further delay will cause irreparable loss to the party’s cause. The PML-N leaders will also give serious thoughts to forge new political alliances in connection with impending general elections,” he added
The PML-N COC meeting was last held on February 25, right after the 45-day deadline given to the government to implement the 10-point agenda expired.
Another PML-N leader said Nawaz, accompanied by three family members, would land at the Lahore airport on May 7 (Saturday). He said Nawaz would stay at Raiwind for three days and leave for Islamabad on May 10 to preside over both sessions of the meetings.
