Former chief selector Abdul Qadir has lashed out at Shahid Afridi for his non-professional approach. Talking to journalists here, he said that Afridi has played more than 300 matches but has not yet learnt to play. “As for his captaincy, he did not even show at any point that he is the captain of the team. If we look at players like Dhoni, Sangakarra, Ponting their approach tells that they are true leaders but Afridi lack the ingredients of a captain.
“He should have been holding the crease in the time of crisis but he recklessly got himself out and put pressure on the other players instead,” he said. He further said that the West Indies tour was a perfect opportunity to test the skills of new players but they were not used properly. “The hosts instead took the opportunity and got their fresh players groomed. They took full advantage of the series by winning the last two matches,” he added.
