Haqiqi, Kachchi committee activists gunned down

An activist each of the Afaq Ahmed-led faction of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) and the Kachchi Rabita Committee (KRC) were killed in separate incidents of target killing in the metropolis on Friday. The body of the MQM-H activist, identified as Amir, son of Akram Abbas, was found near Geelanabad in Kausar Town, within the limits of Khokhrapar police.
The police said the victim, a resident of F-1 Daak Khana, Malir, was kidnapped by unidentified people, who later threw away his body near Abdul Rehman Hotel after killing him. Abbas was a conductor of a mini-bus, they added. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. The deceased had suffered three bullets while several torture marks were also present on his body.
The MQM-H claimed that the victim was an active worker of the party. They condemned the killing of Amir Abbas and demanded that the government should arrest his killers. Police have registered FIR No 88/11 against unidentified men on the complaint of victim’s brother Safdar Abbas. Separately, the body of KRC activist identified as 49-year-old Qasim, son of Noor Mohammad, was found near Art Chowk in the limits of Kalakot police station.
The body of the victim, a resident of Shah Waliullah Road in Nayaabad, Lyari, was recovered from a garbage dump near Makran Hotel and shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi. SP Javed Baloch said the deceased, a KRC member, was kidnapped late Thursday night from Nayaabad while his body was found from the Kalakot area. He added that Qasim had suffered a single bullet in his head.
Baloch said the victim, belonging to the Kachchi community, used to run business of gutka and was the father of five children. Police have registered FIR No 55/11 against unidentified suspects on the complaint of victim’s son Kamran.
