Apollo, Khurrum Gym reach semis

Pakistan’s banned Test captain Salman Butt displayed guts with the bat in a local cricket tournament while playing for Khurrum Club here on Friday.
Apollo Sports, Pindi Gymkhana and Khurrum Gymkhana qualified for the semi-finals of the Alhamd Cricket Tournament here on Friday. At the Railways Allama Iqbal Institute ground, Apollo Sports scored 322 runs for the loss of nine wickets against Ghulam Qadir Memorial. Mohammad Bilal scored 162 runs and was named man of the match.
Tanveer Jabbar (34), Afzal Shah (27) and Raza Khan (20) made useful contributions. Ghulam Qadir Memorial’s Shahbaz bagged five wickets for 20, while Shaukat took two for 28. In reply, Ghulam Qadir Memorial were dismissed for 232. Naveed Butt (66), Qamar Iqbal (55), Yasir (47), and Shahid (20) were their top scorers. Mohammad Arif took four wickets for 55 for Apollo, Safdar Babar two for 44 and Raza Khan two for 28. At Model Town Greens ground, Khurrum Gymkhana beat Baka Jillani Club. Khurrum Gym scored 220 runs in the first innings.
Test cricketer Salman Butt top scored with 77, and was supported by Saeed (44) and Ghauri (27). Jillani Club’s Shaharyar Wasim took three wickets for 22, Hamza Mobeen took two for 37 while Muzaffar got two for 44. In reply, Baka Jillani Club were bowled out for 193 runs.
