TMC meets to ease up traffic bottlenecks on five roads

International and modern traffic parking signals, lines, lanes and other relevant facilities would be provided on five model roads of Faisalabad, Divisional Commissioner Tahir Hussain said while chairing the Traffic Management Committee (TMC) meeting held at his office to discuss the traffic plan for the city.
The plan is targeted to ease up the traffic bottlenecks at five vital areas facing the highest level of traffic chaos that are Jail Road, District Council Road, Serena Hotel Road, Jaranwala Road and Satiana Road.
These roads have been declared as model roads in the plan and the committee has drawn out a strategy to ensure free flow of traffic in these areas.
The meeting was also attended by Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Ch Muhammad Ashraf, Additional Commissioner Imtiaz Niazi, Chief Traffic Officer Sardar Muhammad Asif Khan, FDA Chief Executive Ch Rashid Majeed, Road Traffic Authroity Secretary Mian Mohsin Rashid, Roads District Officer Ghulam Hussain Sindhu, Revenue Assistant Commissioner Mahr Shafqatullah Mushtaq, TMC members Syed Umar Nazar Shah and Khawaja Asim Khurshid, Anjuman-e-Tajiran Secretary Mahmud Alam Jatt and others.
Sardar Muhammad Asif Khan briefed about the project and said that unauthorised encroachments, beggary, street venders, slow moving traffic, unnecessary U turns and roundabouts would be removed from these roads and a new traffic friendly environment would be depicted. The divisional commissioner directed the FDA authorities to constitute a subcommittee of engineers of the relevant department and asked the officials concerned to start work for friendly traffic and safe parking system without any hurdle to the existing traffic flow.
FOOD MINISTER VISITS WHEAT PROCUREMENT CENTRE: Wheat procurement is in process according to the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the Punjab government will achieve the target of purchase of four million metric tons of wheat from the growers. Punjab Food Minister Ch Abdul Ghafoor said this while talking to the wheat growers and journalists during the inspection of food department purchase centre No VI Faisalabad. He added a comprehensive plan had been devised for providing maximum benefits to the real and genuine farmers during the wheat procurement campaign. He said that regular monitoring was also being carried out for ensuring the transparent process of wheat procurement and nobody would be allowed to exploit the wheat growers.
He further said the Punjab government was fully aware of the problems of the small farmers and revolutionary agricultural policies were being followed for the betterment and welfare of them. He added that the gunny bags were being distributed under the prescribed policy to facilitate the wheat growers.
He said the issue of increase of quota of bardana would be tabled in the meeting of provincial cabinet and an appropriate decision would be made for the larger interest of the farmers.
He directed the staff to perform duties diligently and warned that any corruption would not be tolerated at any cost. He appreciated the performance of the Food deputy director and his team for better arrangements to facilitate the farmers. Food Deputy Director Sardar Saifullah Khan Joya told the minister that 44,377 metric tons of wheat had been purchased in the four districts of the division against the 440,000 metric tons which is 10.54 percent of the target and added that sufficient quality of bardana was available and smooth distribution was in progress.
