Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday met with ministers from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) at the CM House, primarily to tell them to speed up completion of development schemes initiated by the provincial government. The meeting was attended, among others, by Agriculture Minister Ali Nawaz Shah, Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah, Food Minister Nadir Magsi, Law & Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ayaz Soomro, Irrigation Minister Jam Saifullah Dharejo, and Works & Services Minister Manzoor Hussain Wasan.
The meeting reviewed the pace of development works in the province, with the CM emphasising the need to complete schemes within the “stipulated time.” He said that due to the heavy floods last year, some schemes had to be rescheduled and important public-oriented schemes, particularly in health, education and road sectors, are being completed on a priority basis. Shah underlined the need to have constant vigilance on progress of those projects.
He also stressed the need to complete the repairs/maintenance of roads on priority basis. Participants of the meeting also discussed and reviewed in detail about the three years performance of the provincial government, and expressed satisfaction on achievements and progress of schemes particularly special initiatives for Hepatitis, anti-polio, PPHI, anti T.B and other health projects. The meeting also reviewed the progress on repairs and reconstruction of flood protected bunds which were damaged during last year flood.
The CM ordered that the on-going repair, reconstruction and restructuring works of bunds be completed by the end of May. The meeting also reviewed other issues and problems related to process of development and progress of such schemes, and proposed schemes to be initiated under the ADP for the financial year.
