Light rain brings a sigh of relief

Light rain and a dust storm on Thursday brought relief to Lahoris who had been witnessing extremely hot conditions for the last couple of days. According to the Met office, a westerly weather system entered the country via Balochistan on Thursday. This system could cause dust storms and rain on Friday as well.
The Met Office said that under the weather system, rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected at scattered places in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and at isolated places in DI Khan, Multan and DG Khan while isolated rain might also hit Upper Sindh in this period. This weather system might continue in upper parts of the country until Saturday morning and in AJK until Sunday.
According to the Met Office, day temperatures are expected to fall by three to five degrees Celsius in upper parts of the country while there would be less relief in lower parts of the country. Wheat farmers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who are still unable to complete their crop harvesting, are advised to take precautionary measures accordingly during this spell.
