While the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) continues complaining about short supply of 230MW from two independent power producers (IPPs), Pakistan State Oil (PSO) claims that the IPPs have been supplied the required amount of fuel. The KESC on Thursday claimed that it was still receiving only 20MW of the 250MW from Tapal Energy and Gul Ahmed Energy.
Sources claimed that the short supply has widened the demand and supply gap by 450MW, whereas the city’s demand swelled to 2,350MW on Thursday. However, official PSO sources claimed that PSO had supplied 3,000MT furnace oil to the KESC on Wednesday and would be pumping the same volume of oil on Thursday as well.
Therefore, the KESC’s allegations that PSO has not provided the power utility with furnace oil are completely baseless, sources added.
