Nawaz Sharif has been missing in action for quite some time now even though he and his party have been in the news for the past days (most of it, unflattering). According to news reports, he is all set to return to home base soon enough.
The political landscape of the country was already in flux with a lot of alliance building going on. Now another spanner has been thrown in the works, courtesy the May 2nd episode. The nabbing of Osama in our own homeland may prove to be a watershed moment in the country as it can prove to redefine civil-military relations.
At this critical juncture, it is very important that the political leadership of the country take charge. A basic requirement for that (which most of our leaders forget) is being in the country for starters. A more egregious example of this was that our PM was in Paris when the events took place!
It is good that NS is coming back at this crucial time. Our PM should cut short foreign visits when the country needs its leader.
