At least 11 projects have been started in current fiscal year under the ‘Large City Package’ with an estimated cost of Rs 550 million and work on these projects is at full swing.
Gujranwala Division Commissioner Saeed Wahla said this while talking to journalists and added that Rs 137.500 million would be spent on construction of 4.2 kilometers long Sheikhupura Road and sewerage on its either sides, Rs 30 million for construction of Hyderi Road underpass, Rs 71 million for 4.1 kilometers long Ferozewala link road, Rs 38 million for the construction of 2.5 kilometers long Jinnah Road, Rs 50 million for Hafizabad link roads to Western bypass, Rs 61 million for 3.81 kilometers long Mubarak Shah Road, Rs 27.500 million for re-construction of Government Iqbal High School, Rs 30 million for sewerage schemes at Farid Road and Jinnah Road, Rs 40 million for sewerage schemes of Noshera Road and Noshera Sansi Road and Rs 75 million for various sewerage schemes in low lying residential areas of the city.
The commissioner asked the contractors to complete work on these projects within timeframe and added that stern action would be taken against the contractors who failed to comply their contracts or used cheap material. He said that day-to-day monitoring would be done by him or the district coordination officer to ensure quality and in time completion of these projects.
