PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif is ready to return to Pakistan during the current week after winding up his over two-month-long stay abroad. During his protracted absence from the country, the PML-N remained submissive in the face of all dramatic developments, including the mysterious release of CIA contractor Raymond Davis, the PML-Q joining the PPP-led coalition government at the Centre and the killing of Osama bin Ladin.
Various circles remained abuzz and reports are still circulating that Begum Kalsum Nawaz tried to oppose the PML-N chief’s return, saying he should not engage in political activities until recovering from his illness completely. Some party leaders also had suspicion about his health, saying Nawaz, perhaps, had no more physical potential to indulge in politics and better bring some other suitable leader to replace him. Nawaz began his foreign tour in the first week of March. He had planned to return home within 15 days, but had to prolong his stay on medial grounds.
