NAB, FIA officers’ warrants issued

An accountability court on Thursday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Punjab National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Director (Intelligence) Muhammad Rafi and FIA Inspector Raees Ahmad Bajwa on non-compliance of court orders regarding production of prosecution witnesses. Rafi was investigation officer of a reference filed against Abdul Haleem Qureshi while Bajwa was the investigation officer of a reference filed against Tariq Hameed. Both the references are pending in the Accountability Court no IV and the court had issued various summons for the aforesaid officers to bring the prosecution witnesses for their statement but they did not comply with the orders, so the court issued their warrants for May 10 and 12 respectively.
RS 200M FRAUD ACCUSED BAILED: An accountability court on the directions of the Lahore High Court (LHC) released Askari Bank Vice President and former Bank Al-Falah manager Khawar Rasheed on bail on Thursday. Rasheed was arrested on embezzlement charges of Rs 200 million. He got his bail orders from the LHC upon submitting two surety bonds of Rs 0.2 million each and Rs 15 million in the trial court’s account. The LHC directed the accountability court to invest the accused’ money and return with profit after the conclusion of the reference, which has been pending against him in the accountability court.
