Additional District and Sessions Judge Ameer Ahmad Khan on Wednesday directed the Islampura station house officer to register a case against the Punjab chief secretary, the home secretary and the Lahore district police officer (DPO), if the offence against them was cognizable under the law. The judge said this while hearing an application filed by Punjab Civil Service (PCS) officers Uzma Afzal and Rubina Kousar.
Earlier, the petitioners had submitted that they, were protesting in the Punjab Civil Secretariat against irregularities in the promotions and postings of PCS officers when, in the presence of the chief secretary, the home secretary and the Lahore DPO, several police constables arrested them and kept in illegal confinement. They said they had filed an application in Islampura police station for the registration of a criminal case against the chief secretary, the home secretary and the Lahore DPO but the police officer concerned refused to do so.
