Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Azmat Saeed adjourned the hearing of a petition seeking re-opening of an 82-year-old case of Ilamudin for one week on Wednesday. Ilamudin had killed a Hindu publisher for disgracing the Prophet (PBUH) and was sentenced to death by the then British judges of the LHC in 1929.The case was adjourned after the petitioner’s counsel, Dr Farooq Hasan, sought time for case preparation. Earlier, LHC CJ had issued pre-admission notice to the federal and Punjab governments to assist the court in a legal point that whether the case could be opened now or not. Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi of the Save Judiciary Committee filed this petition through his counsel Barrister Farooq Hasan.
