Motorcyclist shot dead for resisting robbery

A motorcyclist was shot dead by two unknown robbers over resistance on Noshera Road. Reportedly, Yasin was on his way to a local hospital to visit his friend and was stopped by two robbers who tried to loot him.
Yasin resisted the robbery attempt on which they shot him in the chest. The deceased, who was to be married on May 11, was moved to the district headquarters hospital, but he could not survive.

JUSTICE DENIED: Hearings against a superintendent of police (SP), two inspectors and nine officials in the Anti-Corruption Court could not be completed in three years while the complainant is being forced to visit the court without any progress in the case. Reportedly, Syed Ali Raza of Jalalpur Jattan succeeded in lodging a case against the then DSP, Ch Zulfiqar Ahmad, Inspector Ghulam Sarwar, Inspector Nasir Butt, ASI Shahid Jamil and others on the charge of robbing Rs 20,000, 700 euros, gold jewellery and other valuables from his house.
He got orders from a civil court for the registration of a case against the raiding party under the anti corruption act on October 7, 2008. Later, the court indicted them in the case. Despite repeated dates and transfers of two judges, the complainant could not get justice in almost three years. He termed himself a victim of delayed justice before the court after getting next date of May 30.
GEPCO FACES SHORTFALL OF 450 MEGAWATTS: Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) Chief Executive Muhammad Ibrahim Majoka has said the company has been facing power shortfall of 450 megawatts in the region and is trying to facilitate the industrial sector as much as possible.He was addressing a meeting of the GEPCO’s advisory committee that was attended by its official and non-official members.
The chief executive said load shedding during the first four months of the current year was reduced as compared to the same period of the previous year and added that new power generation projects would make the situation better as the government was trying its level best to reduce the demand and supply gap.
