The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) won the ‘OSH&E Encouragement Award’ from the Employers’ Federation of Pakistan that recognises the utility’s progress in setting up OHS&E standards for its employees within a very short period. According to a press statement, this is the first time in the KESC’s history that it has bagged this important award.
The ‘Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Award 2010’ was awarded to the KESC at a ceremony. The OHS&E Award, which has been given in recognition of setting up best OSH&E practices for the KESC employees and progress made so far, reflects the management’s commitment for continual improvement in related fields. This award is in addition to the ‘Environment Excellence Award’ won by KESC last year.
The CEO of the power utility, Tabish Gauhar in a message on the occasion said, “This award is not only a testimony to the dedication of entire staff and management of the KESC that made it possible to strengthen OHS&E practices throughout the organisation in a short span of two years, but will also serve as a constant reminder for us to perform better.”
