FIA directed to file complete challan against Moonis

Special judge banking offence (central) Malik Abdul Rasheed on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of NICL scam ase against Moonis Elahi until May 12. The court directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) authorities to submit the complete challan of the case by the next date of hearing, failing which the court will proceed with the incomplete challan.
FIA authorities produced the accused in court yesterday and sought adjournment for preparing of challan against the accused. The court expressed displeasure over FIA’s stance and directed to submit complete challan in court by the next date of hearing.
Moonis is involved in facilitating one of the land deals of the NICL scam case and FIA had summoned the accused after one of the arrested accused in the NICL corruption case had stated that the Al-Tahoor Company drew Rs 220 million through fake bank accounts of the manager Abdul Maalik and that money was paid to Moonis.
LHC defers bail petition by Mooni’s manager: A division bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) adjourned the hearing of a bail petition of Muhammad Maalick, manager of PML-Q MPA Moonis Elahi, involved in NICL scam case, on Tuesday.
The bench deferred the matter until May 12 to wait for Moonis’ bail petition, as suggested by the special prosecutor on previous hearing. The prosecutor had suggested the court to link the petition of Maalick with Moonis so that the matter could be decided on
same grounds.
Maalick and others including former federal minister Habibullah Warraich and his son Mohsin Warraich have been accused of misappropriating NICL’s funds on account of land purchase. FIA is to recover embezzled amount of Rs 420 million, which Maalick had allegedly deposited in Mohsin’s account.
