Pakistani students are extremely competitive than students of all other countries as they are dominate in positions in all business exams conducted throughout the world. Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is determined to extend its network in Pakistan and is the world’s largest and leading professional body of management accountants having 183,000 members and students in 168 countries.
In an interview with Pakistan Today, CIMA Global Vice President Gulazari Babbar, who was born in Lahore, said;
“The soil of my country has always attracted me and through the platform of CIMA I am now able to do something for the youngsters of my country”. Gulzari also asserted that he wished to provide better business education to the students of Pakistan and better than the education provided in any other country” he added. Gulzari, who is currently visiting Pakistan, is set to launch the organisation’s third office in Islamabad.
He pointed out that last year in order to cater to the strong demand for qualification; the CIMA Lahore office was established and inaugurated by the late Governor Salmaan Taseer on June 30, 2010. He said that CIMA launched its Pakistan office in Karachi in April 2009 and claimed that CIMA has received an overwhelming response from business and finance students.
It was also noted that CIMA Pakistan achieved 100 percent growth over 2008 registrations in 2009 (the first year of operation). In 2010, CIMA Pakistan, contributed 1,169 students to the global recruitment growth and has so far registered 418 students since the beginning of 2011.
He expressed hope that CIMA would rack up 1,500 new registrations in 2011 given the strength of local demand for the professional services of the body. He said Pakistani students were very sharp and leaders, pointing out, for example, in November 2009 exams, one of CIMA’s Pakistani students Hassan Siddiq secured first position worldwide in paper P07 gaining 95 marks and the third position worldwide in paper P01.
CIMA has signed a memorandum of understanding with ICMAP and under this memorandum, ICMAP members may be eligible to gain advanced entry to CIMA through the CPGA accelerated route. On successful completion of one CPGA paper, ICMAP members are granted exemptions of 11 papers out of total 15 papers of CIMA.
Speaking on the CIMA Global Business Challenge 2011, he said that the CIMA Global Business Challenge is an international competition designed to bring out the best in the young business leaders of tomorrow. Teams are expected to attend from the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, India, Mainland China, Philippines, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, UAE and Australia. He also informed that the winning team from each region in 2011 will compete in China in the final. Pakistan Final is to be held on June 16.
