Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has been urged to take measures to mitigate the sufferings of the masses and industry by curtailing the hours of load shedding.
“Prolonged electricity load shedding in Karachi is affecting the economy and adding to the miseries of the common people,” said Sharmila Faruqui, the Information Secretary Pakistan Peoples Party Women Wing Sindh, while talking to a delegation of party activists on Monday.
Sharmila pointed out that the national economy of the country depended on the economy of Karachi, which is the economic hub.
“Economy of Karachi was being affected because of undeclared and prolonged power load shedding,” she added while referring to complaints received on daily basis from various quarters.
The hours long daily load shedding has caused closure of hundreds of industrial units in eight industrial zones of Karachi which has rendered thousands of industrial workers unemployed, she observed and called upon the management of the KESC to take steps to resolve the problem.
She also noted that even the students were facing a hard time in preparation of their examinations due to power load shedding.
