President Pakistan Football Federation Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat Saturday arranged a special memorial service in honour of late PFF Media Manager Syed Akbar Ali Wahidi here at the Football House. Paying tributes to Wahidi, Faisal announced Rs 25,000 monthly stipend for Wahidi’s son including free education for the next five years and also announced Rs 100,000 immediately. Speaking on the occasion, Faisal said that the federation would do whatever it could for the proper up-bringing of Wahidi’s son.
Wahidi died of heart attack while asleep on the morning of the second semi-final of the NBP Challenge Cup in his hotel room in Faisalabad. His death left a void in football as well as hockey circles because he revolutionized media management in sports in Pakistan and was a top statistician of the game. Secretary PFF Col Ahmed Yar and director marketing Sardar Naveed Haider, and a large number of sports journalists were present on the occasion to pay homage to Wahidi.
