Dy. Chairman NAB rejects his retirement, says ‘no’ to leave office

Deputy Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Javed Zia Qazi has refused to relinquish his charge on his retirement. His service length was completed on 30 April.
The sources told that government had appointed Javed Zia Qazi in BPS-21 of Revenue Division on the slot of Deputy Chairman NAB in 2008 for the period of three years .
When Qazi was appointed his retirement on superannuation was just one year away. But as a Deputy Chairman NAB he has worked for three years so he got two additional years even after attaining the prescribed age of retirement fixed for government servants.
The sources said that Javed Qazi took the plea that he could continue his job till the final decision by the Supreme Court as the matter regarding his appointment is in the court.
On the other hand Supreme Court of Pakistan has also sought the notification regarding his appointment as Deputy Chairman NAB that was issued three yeas back by the government. Qazi would himself present his notification before the Supreme Court during the ongoing week. On the other hand Establishment Division, has also issued the notification about his retirement.
It is pertinent to mention here that the top positions including Chairman, Director General (Operations) and Prosecutor General in National Accountability Bureau are laying vacant at present. In addition to this no appointment could be made on the vacancies of as many as seven judges in Accountability Courts due to which some 1600 cases of corruption are pending.
