Lahore Corps Commander Lieutenant General Rashad Mahmood has said that supreme sacrifices rendered by martyrs of the Pakistan Army for upholding integrity and sovereignty of the country shall go down as one of the most glorious chapters in annals of national history. He was addressing a Youm-e-Shuhada ceremony held at Yadgar-e-Shuhada in Lahore Garrison to commemorate soldiers who laid down their lives for the country’s defence. Lieutenant General Rashad Mahmood said the nation greatly valued the services of extreme dedication demonstrated by our officers and men while defending the national frontiers.
He said it was solely because of joint commitment and resolve of soldiers and people of Pakistan that the country had persevered against anti-state forces. The commander said families of Shuhada were the most-valued asset of the nation and commended their resilience and sacrifice for a better future of the country. “The nation holds them in high esteem and shall stand behind their families in their hour of trial,” he added.
