Police fire at students doing wall-chalking

Police opened fire at students doing wall chalking near the Government College University (GCU on early Saturday morning. At 2 am, police found three students writing on walls. On stopping, the students got involved in a brawl with police, after which police opened fire, injuring the students. According to details, three students including Ali Muqaddas, Sajid and Naeem, belonging to the Islamia College Civil Lines, were writing slogans on the wall when two Muhafiz officials reached the spot.
The officers stopped the students from wall chalking,on which a brawl started between both groups during which police opened fire, injuring the three students. After being informed, other students started protesting against the shooting. They brunt tyres on the road, pelted stones on cars passing-by, broke street lights and blocked the street from Chuburgi to the Punjab Civil Secretariat. After being informed, a larger number of policemen reached the scene and baton-charged the students and resorted to aerial firing to disperse them. Another seven students and some policemen were injured in the scuffle. Senior police officials ordered an investigation against the policemen responsible for the incident.
