The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) has moved to early implementation of the understandings in the recently held Pakistan-India trade talks to enhance bilateral trade. Secretary Commerce Zafar Mahmood, in a meeting with Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Chief Executive Tariq Iqbal Puri and other officials asked the authority to make all arrangements to ensure speedy and effective implementation of the decisions taken in bilateral talks.
It was decided that TDAP will form sector specific committees which would be led by the private sector for identification of barriers in the Pakistan–India bilateral trade. The consultation process, for taking forward the agenda of Joint Statement and to produce a set of strategies for the next round of talks, will be undertaken with all stakeholders. TDAP will conduct seminars to create awareness and to identify opportunities in the bilateral trade, with emphasis on sensitising Indian’s market and regulatory requirements.
