Lahorites witnessed mixed weather in April, as intense heat and rains made their presence felt throughout the month. The start of the month witnessed intense heat but rains made their entry in between, leaving a refreshing effect on citizens. According to the Met Office, due to prevailing La-Nina conditions, winter and spring in the Middle East and South Asia received more rain than usual. Citizens in various parts of the country witnessed rain from April 8 to 11 and just after few days, another wet spell struck the country on April 14, which continued in upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) until April 18.
A hailstorm struck various parts of Lahore on April 18 and the overall weather remained pleasant until April 19. During the rains in April, some farmers had to incur losses, but they were lucky that the wet weather did not last for long. From April 20 onwards, a heat wave struck the country and day temperatures increased dramatically whereas the weather also remained dry at most places. In the last two days of April, citizens of some regions witnessed isolated rain, which again made the weather pleasant. According to the Met Office, the weather will remain dry in most parts of the city during the next few days.
According to citizens, the weather was not extremely hot and it did not force them to switch on air conditioners at home but they expect a hotter May this year. On Saturday, weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country but isolated rain and thunderstorm occurred in Upper Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, AJK and adjoining hilly areas. According to the Met Office, hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country for today (Sunday) but isolated rain and thunderstorms are expected in North East Punjab, North East Balochistan, AJK and adjoining hilly areas.
