Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Friday the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leadership was negotiating a power-sharing deal directly with President Asif Ali Zardari, and he would be taken into confidence after the talks concluded. “I was not included in the talks with the leadership of the PML-Q but my policies are the same as those of the president,” Gilani told reporters after inaugurating the Qasim Beela Road Project in Multan on Friday.
The prime minister refused to answer when asked about an alliance between the PPP and the PML-Q in future. “The PPP believes in politics of reconciliation because political stability will bring economic stability in the country,” he said. A private TV channel quoted Gilani as saying the Punjab government would not be destabilised. Meanwhile, Online sources said the president telephoned Gilani on Friday and took him into confidence over his talks with the PML-Q and its decision to join the federal cabinet.
The sources quoted the president as saying that the PPP believed in politics of reconciliation and wanted to take all political parties along in all matters of national interest. Separately, Gilani said an audiotape containing the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s statement, which he had given to the court in his case, had been found, APP reported.
Addressing a gathering of Prime Minister’s Development Package for South Punjab, Gilani said the federal law minister had informed him that the audiotape, in which Bhutto had spoken for hours in the court, had been found.
