The Sindh Culture Department will distribute stipend cheques among the Karachi-based artists, poets, writers and singers belonging for the year 2010-11 on Saturday (today). Provincial Culture Minister Sassui Palijo accompanied by Sindh Culture Secretary Abdul Aziz Uqaili will give the cheques to the personalities in a ceremony to be organised at the Culture Directorate opposite MPA Hostel.
It is worth mentioning that the Culture Department will distribute Rs 13.32 million among the artistes as monthly stipends for the current fiscal year while Rs 3 million will also be disbursed from the Endowment Fund for ailing singers, poets, writer, etc, as one-time facility to help them on emergency basis. The stipend distribution ceremonies would also be held in other parts of the province beginning from May 2.
