Vigilantism in our society has become a norm, as the department of police has failed to fulfill their duties. There have been numerous incidents of people making a citizen’s arrest, but these have been followed up with public thrashing of the culprits, which has even resulted in deaths. The public can make a citizen’s arrest but should handover the culprits to the police.
These events have developed due to the mistrust communities have against the police. It is imperative that the department of police should carry out large scale revamping, to improve its performance and restore the public’s trust in them, so that such activities may be discouraged.
