Businessmen have welcomed trade talks between Pakistan and India and have termed them as a new milestone to enhance trade relations between the two neighbouring countries. Pakistan-India Chamber of Commerce & Industry President and Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) Patron In-Chief S M Muneer, KATI Chairman Syed Johar Ali Qandhari and former Chairman Mian Zahid Husain hoped that these negotiations would liberate trade between the two countries. They greeted announcement of opening up border trade, particularly from Khokrapar and Monabao. Business leaders said that the government should consider import of cheap electricity in order to overcome power crisis and minimise load-shedding in the country.
S M Muneer, while commenting on the visa problem faced by the Pakistani business community, said that a high powered delegation would also visit Pakistan to address this problem. He said that Indian businessmen usually attain visa for Pakistan easily. However, Pakistani businessmen were faced with difficulties in this regard. He further stated that liberalising imports list, except a few items by Pakistan government, would provide Pakistani manufacturers to get cheap raw materials. Muneer also praised efforts of Commerce Secretary Zafar Mahmood during the talks.
