Top seed Aqeel Khan beat his younger brother Jalil Khan in straight sets 3-0 in the final of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Margalla National Ranking Tennis Tournament to lift the title here at the clay court of PTF Tennis Complex on Friday.
The final score-line was 6-3, 6-1 and 6-2. The brothers started the final with pace and played some excellent strokes, as the first set finished in the favour of top seed Aqeel 6-3. In the second set, Aqeel kept his momentum and displayed excellent skills. The top-seed did not allow the second seeded Jalil to settle down and won the second set by conceding just one game. He won the third game 6-2 to lift the title.
Earlier, Sara Mansoor annexed the women’s singles title by beating Meheq Khokhar in straight sets 6-3 and 6-3. Mohammad Abid of Lahore clinched the boys’ singles U18 title singles when he outplayed Faizan Khurram in straight sets 6-3 and 7-5. The match lasted 90 minutes. Chief guest Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, Chairman CDA, distributed the prizes among the winners and runner-ups. Aqeel pocketed Rs 35,000 while Jalil received Rs 20,000 along with the trophies.
