Militants ambushed a police party before dawn on Friday, sparking a gunfight during which two policemen and two militants were killed in Naseerabad district, some 360km southeast of Quetta. According to officials, militants targeted the police vehicle, patrolling Pero Pul area of Goth Mir Hassan, with sophisticated weapons. It triggered a gun battle, which lasted for half-an-hour, resulting in killing of Assistant Sub-Inspector Wazir Ali Abro and Constable Rab Nawaz with multiple wounds to Rustam Khan, driver.
Two attackers, later identified as Heru Khan alias Janwar and Nabi Dost, were also killed.
