Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that May Day was the day to salute the dignity of labour. This day reminds us of those martyrs of Chicago who sacrificed their lives for enhancing dignity of labour and making the labourers of the world united. As a result of their sacrifices, the right of self-respect of labourers and workers, job opportunities, suitable remunerations, working hours, treatment facilities and other basic amenities was recognized throughout the world. He said that labourers were the backbone of economy of any country and the dream of development and prosperity of the country and establishing a healthy and prosperous society could not be materialized without welfare of labourers and workers.
In his May Day message, Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif said that creation of opportunities for better future and welfare of the labourers and workers was the priority of the government and TEVTA has been activated for the purpose. He said that labourers were our precious asset and they were playing their due role in the development of the country. He said that welfare projects like low-cost Aashiyana housing scheme and educational fund had been launched for improving their living standard. He said that the social security system had been mobilized so that labourers could get their due rights. He said that Punjab government had taken revolutionary steps for the welfare of labourers.
