The Young Doctors’ Association (YDA) has announced that the doctors’ community would not cast votes in favour of PML-N in the upcoming general elections, Pakistan Today has learnt.
YDA general body participants, while addressing the media in the doctors’ hostel at Services Hospital, said that they wanted to change the system. YDA President Dr Hamid Butt, during the YDA’s general council meeting, said that they would give the Sharif Brothers a ‘tough time’ and about 22,000 doctors’ families from all over the Punjab would not cast their votes in PML-N’s favour.
He said that YDA office bearers and members did not have any soft corner or affiliation with any political party but they could change the political scenario. Butt said that they were protesting for the poor patients as well, who lacked proper facilities in the hospitals and suffered from a lakc of clean water and ventilators in the emergency wards and Intensive care units.
Young doctors, while criticizing the Punjab chief minister’s visit to China, said that if the Punjab government had about Rs 150 billion for a mutual agreement between Pakistan and China, then the government could also raise doctors’ salaries. They said that many political leaders and even the chief justice was reinstated by ‘agitation on roads’ and the doctors too adopted the same way.
The YDA general body said that they would not withdraw their services from emergency wards and urged the civil society to play its role in resolving doctors’ issues.
