PPP submits third requisition for PA session

The combined opposition in Punjab Assembly (PA), led by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), on Friday submitted a third requisition to summon the 26th session of the House saying that the Punjab CM will have to respond to the opposition in the House. PPP members of the provincial assembly (MPA) said that they will continue using their constitutional rights and the treasury will have to finally realise that dealing with the opposition is not an easy task, adding that Shahbaz should also realize that he will have to attend the session this time. It is the third consecutive reacquisition submitted by the PPP-led opposition in the PA during the last one month with 114 MPAs signatures.
The first requisition was moved on April 2 soon after completion of the 24th session of the House on March 31. The second requisition was moved on April 15 and in response, the session was held on April 25. But the second session summoned by the PPP was a tough experience for the opposition, as Punjab Food Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor forced the PPP to point out the quorum to escape the hard facts of the treasury benches. Punjab Deputy Opposition Leader Shaukat Basra submitted the fresh requisition at the office of Acting PA Secretary Malik Aftab Maqbool Joiya. PPP MPAs said that owing to the constitutional binding for the speaker, the session will have to take place within 14 days.
According to sources, the PPP-led opposition in Punjab was tasked to give the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government a tough time. This is the first time in the PA’s history that the opposition has submitted three requisitions to call the session. Sources, disclosed the requisition has been submitted and a session was likely in the second week of May.
