The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has allowed electricity distribution companies to increase their tariff by Re 1 per unit. The fresh increase in electricity tariff would not be applicable to the Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC).
The increase has been made on account of monthly fuel adjustment charges and the fresh increase will be included in the next monthly bills of consumers. The discussion in this regard was held here on Thursday. NEPRA was informed that 2,974 megawatts of electricity was generated through furnace oil in March due to which the cost of production was increased.
