Autobiography of a prisoner in Kabul launched

The launching ceremony of a renowned intellectual and political leader Raja Anwar’s new book titled “Qabar KiAghosh” was held at the Punjab University (PU) Centre for Undergraduate Studies Al-Raazi Hall on Wednesday. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over the ceremony while Hassan Nisar, Ajmal Niazi, Dr Amjad Saqiband Soofia Bedar shared their views on the book.
PU VC said that the essence of Raja Anwar’s book lied in its truthfulness, which strengthened man in difficult situations. He said that speaking the truth in an environment of lies was a revolution. He said positive criticism should be appreciated. He also read some paragraphs from the book. Hassan Nisar, a renowned columnist, while terming Raja Anwar ‘romantic war-fighter’, said that Raja spent his life in adventure with bravery which was a great success. He said that the book was an ideal to understand Pakistan’s problems.
He said Raja had a unique writing style, which was like his living style. Dr Ajmal Niazi said that Raja was an emperor in his heart which was un-conquerable and personalities like Raja tried to bring revolution. He said Islamic and political revolutionists had deceived them. He said writing about revolution was like bringing revolution and Raja had presented savageness of Afghanistan in his book.
Soofia Bedar said that the Raja’s confinement had resulted in a book, which was a reflection of Afghans’ emotions and struggle. Raja said that he had narrated very few grief moments in his book. He said he was not a fiction writer and he had written his autobiography because true words always touched the reader’s hearts. He also showed his shirt which he had wore two and half years in Kabul prison.
