President Asif Ali Zardari asked the country’s businessmen and entrepreneurs in an interactive session here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday to chalk out a “Charter of Economy” in consultation with all the political parties to help address the serious economic challenges facing the country.
He said no outsiders could help Pakistan solve its problems. “We have to help ourselves and find our own answers to meet the challenges facing the country. The business community and leading entrepreneurs should come forward and recommend solid measures to the government to revive the economy, contain inflation and promote growth and employment generation in the country,” he said. Over 60 businessmen participated in the meeting.
They appreciated the government’s steps to revive the economy and restore confidence of local and foreign investors, and welcomed the decision to hold such interactive brainstorming sessions before the budget to take into account their views and opinions while forming of budgetary proposals.
