Whites, Royal reach Seniors Cricket finals

Lahore Whites and Rawalpindi Royal qualified for the regional finals of the 13th National Seniors Cricket Cup 2011 here on Tuesday. Lahore Whites scored 254 for the loss of six wickets in 30 overs against Askari Greens Rawalpindi at the LCCA ground. Former Test cricketer Salim Malik scored 81, while Ghaffar Kazmi (61), Ahmed Shahab (31) and Raza Khan (38*) made useful contributions.
In reply, Askari Greens Rawalpindi could make 214 runs in 28.4 overs. Mohammad Masoor (24), Masood Aslam (39), Raza Butt (52), Nadeem Salal (30) and Irfan Bhatti (42) batted well but could not lead their team to victory. In the other semi-final played at the Model Town Ground, SPM Stags made 216 for seven against Rawalpindi Royal.
Kamran Khan (58), Javed Hayat (42), Fiaz Haider (27) and Sajjad Akbar (45) were the prominent batsmen. In response, Rawalpindi Royal chased the target after losing six wickets in 29.5 overs. Shahid (45), Ibrahim (44), Shahin Iqbal (18) and Naseer (67*) were the top scorers.
