Trials for Azlan Shah Hockey squad from today

The trials to select the final 18-man squad for 20th Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament will be conducted on Thursday (today) here at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex. The tournament will be played from May 6 to 15, 2011 at Iepo, Malaysia.
According to an official of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), former Olympian Hanif Khan is the head of National Selection Committee while Choudhary Arshad and Khalid Bashir are the members of committee, who will observe the trials and make the final team for seven-nation international hockey showpiece. Besides Pakistan Australia, India, England, South Korea, New Zeeland and hosts Malaysia will fight each other for the top honour, as the tournament will be played on single league basis.
At the moment, 22 lads are in the camp and four will be sent back to after the trials. The training camp will continue till the departure of the team for international event. Likely, the team will leave Islamabad for Karachi on May 1 and fly for Malaysia the same day,” he said.
