The government would increase the size of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) from the proposed ceiling of Rs 280 billion for the next fiscal year to compensate the major cut in the PSDP of Rs 100 billion in the current fiscal year owing to the devastating floods.
Planning Commission Secretary Sohail Ahmed told reporters after chairing a meeting of the Priorities Committee that the development budget for the next fiscal year would be more than the proposed ceiling of Rs 280 billion. PSDP could be in the range of between Rs 280 billion to Rs 365 billion, subject to the availability of financial resources.
