Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Syed Munawar Hasan has condemned the power crisis in the country and unannounced load shedding. He said this was because of the government’s incompetence. In a press statement on Tuesday, he said the rulers who were squandering public money on personal luxuries were not paying the bills of the power generating companies amounting to billions owing to which these companies were closing down and as a result, load shedding was on the increase and causing industries’ closure as well.
The closure of thousands of factories and industrial units had already caused massive unemployment, while agriculture and trade were also worst hit and certain sections of the society were already staging protests on this state of affairs, he said. Hasan said that the masses, who were already overburdened by a rise in price level, had to face prolonged load shedding both during the day and the night.
It affected students as well, he said. He said, ironically, despite prolonged load shedding, the public had to pay hefty electricity bills and this was because the corrupt politicians, vaderas and the ‘black sheep’ in the society were involved in power theft. Hasan said that it was only the start of the summer season and one could imagine the intensity of power crisis during the season’s peak. He feared that if the situation did not improve, the public could come on roads.
