Rule of vested interests

The PML faction led by political heirs of Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi have been part of almost every government, willing to offer them a share in power, be it a military dictator Musharraf, Zia-ul-Haq or the present PPP-led coalition in Islamabad.

Ever since 1956 this country has been a victim of power politics of its various rulers, for whom the only priority is self interest and perpetuation of their hold on power, irrespective of morality, ethics and national interests.

Machiavellian politics is what makes parties with divergent declared manifestos to cobble partnerships in the game of politics of power. Pakistan and its unfortunate citizens suffer in their quest for democracy, where will of the people prevails and the government of the people, for the people is the dream. But instead what we have is the rule of vested interests for the benefit of a few to plunder the state.
