Police arrest 255 in crackdown on criminals

Mujahid Squad police have launched a massive crackdown on outlaws, drug pushers, gamblers and swindlers and arrested 255 alleged criminals in various areas of the provincial capital over the last five days. A Mujahid Squad spokesman said newly-appointed Superintendent Police (SP) Athar Waheed directed the Mujahid Squad officials to take stern action against proclaimed offenders, hardened criminals, drug pushers, gamblers and swindlers while responding to 15 calls.
The spokesman said the squad had seized 38 pistols, nine rifles, 700 bullets, one kilogram of heroin, 30 kg of hashish and 868 bottles of liquor worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from the arrested men and registered 182 cases against them. The Mujahid Squad also arrested 27 proclaimed offenders and 31 court absconders.
