As the country is gripped by unabated incidents of violence and assassination, Interior Minister Rehman Malik Monday made a stunning revelation that another 83,679 arm licenses had been issued for possession of weapons of non-prohibited bore (NPB) since February 2008 out of 92542 applications received by the Federal Interior Ministry.
The minister, in a written reply to a question, told the national assembly that there was no license request pending with the Ministry as the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had evolved a state-of-the-art highly secure arm licenses management system.
