At least four people, including three girls, were abducted from various places in the suburbs of the district. The first incident happened at Chak No 85-6R where Shahid Imran and seven others abducted Muzammil and his sister. In second incident, Saeed and three others abducted a girl from Chak No 143-9L. In the last incident, Sajid and his four accomplices abducted a girl from Chak No 79-5R.
TRUCK OWNER ELECTROCUTED: A truck owner was electrocuted near Government College of Technology the other day. Reportedly, a truck of Ghulam Rasool, carrying a container, had been parked near the college. All of a sudden, an electric wire touched the container. As soon as the truck owner touched the vehicle, he received a severe electric shock and died.
ANTI-CRIME OPERATION LAUNCHED: The police have launched an operation against the sale of liquor, charas and illegal weapons. According to details, the Sahiwal police arrested Shahid of Sindhi Mohallah, Sabir Hussain of Chak No 2-10L, Rizwan Masih of Mall Mandi, Shabbir Ahmed of Chak 11-14L, Muhammad Latif of Chak 42-12L, Ghulam Farooq of Chak No 108-12L, Muhammad Ahmed of Chak 94-6R, Ghulam Ghous of Chak No 1-10L and Afzal Maish of Chak No 174-9L and recovered 28 liters of liquor, 200 grams of charas, a 30-bore pistol, a 12-bore carbine and a 32-bore revolver from them.
EIGHT ULEMA BOOKED FOR MISUSING LOUDSPEAKER: The police registered cases against eight khateebs for allegedly violating the Amplifier Act. Those booked are: Qari Ali Asghar of Chak No 61 GD, Saifur Rehman of Chak No 128-9L, Ghulam Fareed, Qari Shabbir Ahmed, Umer Farooq of Chak No 26-EB, Hafiz Abdul Waheed of Noor Shah, Maulvi Ziaur Rehman of Chak 35-14L and Maulvi Muhammad Aslam of Chak 32-14L. No arrest has so far been made.
