Shahbaz wants Karachi to be province

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday called for the creation of new provinces in Sindh as being demanded in Punjab, adding that Karachi should be made a province as well. The CM told reporters after inaugurating a Danish School in Dera Ghazi Khan that if new provinces were made in every part of the country, including Karachi, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would not have any objection to a Seraiki province.
The CM said that his party would thoroughly consider and decide whether new provinces should be created or not, and if they were to be created, whether there was a need for new provinces in Sindh and other provinces as well. Earlier, he laid the foundation stone of a Danish School in Attock and said if opening such schools were a crime, he would repeat it a thousand times. He said that whatever he did for the rehabilitation of survivors of the flood was his duty.
Sharif said that the Danish School project was a revolutionary step by the Punjab government, through which the children of poor parents would also be able to acquire modern education and play their role in national development and prosperity. He said that a network of such schools would be made across the whole province. He said that the common man had as much right over national resources as the so-called elite.
He said Quaid-e-Azam had not created Pakistan so that it would suffer drone attacks, terrorism, corruption and oppression. He said that it was an “open secret” that more innocent Pakistanis were being killed in drone attacks than terrorists. Shahbaz said that national dignity and honour should not be sacrificed for aid under the Kerry-Lugar Bill. He said that it was in the interest of the survival of Pakistan that it should stop relying on the charity of others.
He said that it was sad that despite being a nuclear power Pakistan was begging other nations and if the situation continued as it was, there was a danger that it might lose its nuclear capability as well. He said Punjab Bank had been robbed of Rs 76 billion. Senator Pervaiz Rashid, National Assembly and provincial assembly members and PML-N leaders were present on the occasion.
