A major street, a flyover and a park will be named after Mehdi Hassan in recognition of his services, acting Karachi Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed announced on Sunday. According to a statement issued by the City District Government Karachi, Syed was visiting the residence of the legendary singer of the country to inquire about his health and also presented a cheque Rs 50,000 to him. The acting administrator said that Hassan is an asset for the country and the city government will assist his medical treatment in every possible way. He said that the city government will deploy two male-nurses at the residence of Hassan to look after him round-the-clock. He also announced that the city government will name a major street, a flyover and a park after Hassan and a formal announcement will be made soon. “The projects for this purpose will be identified soon,” he added.
