A blast struck a police station in the northwestern city of Peshawar on Monday, damaging the building and wounding at least six people, an official said.
The cause of the blast was not immediately clear, but a fire tore through the police station in the middle-class neighbourhood of Gulbahar in what is Pakistan’s largest city in the Taliban-infested northwest, said an AFP reporter.
Police said the blast occurred inside the room used to store ammunition.
“Six people were injured. Three were in the lock-up and three policemen. One room collapsed and there are two partially damaged,” Mohammed Ijaz.
Television footage showed civilians and policemen carrying injured out on stretchers and ambulances rushing to the scene.
