The Chairman of FPCCI Regional Committee for Punjab Traders Coordination Waqar Ahmad Mian has demanded the government to resolve the issue of load-shedding and warned of protests if this burning issue was not addressed. In a press statement issued here on Saturday, Waqar Ahmad Mian, while strongly criticising the government for its failure to trounce the energy crisis, said that more than 12 and 16 hours of load-shedding in the urban and rural area respectively has annihilated the whole system.
He said that industrialists, traders, common man, students and patients are faced with ample problems, but the government had not taken steps to control the bleak situation. He said that PPP’s government has made numerous raises in electricity, gas and petroleum prices but did not bother to initiate a single project of power generation since PPP government’s inception. He said that reduction of industrial production had reached an alarming level, as industrial units are being closed, industrial workers are losing their employment and traders are worried as buyers are fading away.
He said that abandoning of Kalabagh Dam project shows that the PPP government is least interested to do something good for the Pakistani nation. He said that Punjab government should take a strong stance on the issue of heavy load-shedding in Punjab otherwise the province would be devastated.
