Drive against traffic offenders starts tomorrow

The city’s traffic police will launch a special drive against traffic violators from tomorrow (Monday).
This was decided at a meeting held at the Darakshan police station on the initiative of an NGO – Police Reforms Initiative – on Saturday. The meeting was attended amongst others by Consultant on Planning, Policing, Public Relatives and Home Affairs Sharfuddin Memon, CCPO Karachi Saud Mirza, South Zone DIG Iqbal Mehmood and Traffic DIG Khurram Gulzar.
The campaign will commence from DHA and Clifton Cantonment Board areas and then extended to other parts of the city.
The campaign is aimed at easing out traffic congestion and curb traffic violations.
During the campaign, Karachi traffic police would also ensure that public transport vehicles only stop at the designated bus stops and that violations like over-speeding, overloading, misuse of ladies’ compartments and use of pressure horns will be fined.
The consultant on home affairs also discussed an ongoing parking project at Khada Market in the DHA.
